It is a true honor to serve the Pilots of Boston who put their trust in my leadership as the Allied Pilots Association Boston Chair. I never intended to be involved in the political side of our union but when called upon felt it was my duty. Fortunately, I was surrounded by amazing people beginning with CA Gemma Meehan. I am enriched beyond words by having the chance to serve with Gemma and become friends.
CA Lawrence Cuttler was the first to welcome me to the Board of Directors. He provided the guidance and assistance needed to allow me and Gemma to effectively start our first day in office leading the Boston pickets, contract negotiations and our relentless push to improve "Supplement L". The more time I spent with Larry, his unselfish and genuine dedication to the pilots of American Airlines became apparent. In addition to his skill as a Director, Larry always wanted to return to Boston when his seniority allowed. He is where he belongs, and is the best person I can think of to represent me in Boston.
While Gemma and I were often focused on national level issues and drama, Boston was well taken care of by our local volunteers. CA Tom Knox quietly served our pilots most in need through Disabled Pilots Awareness (DPASC) and was a constant source of strength in Strike and Tactical Operations Planning and National Communications Network. Tom is the person I want on the other end of the phone when I have a problem.
I am happy that I will be represented by Larry and Tom and know they will keep the culture of Boston strong!
I've had the privilege of knowing CA Tom Knox since 2016. Tom consistently prioritizes the needs of the pilot group and approaches every challenge with the utmost professionalism and care.
Tom’s contributions to the APA in Boston have been remarkable. His dedication to improving our profession and his passion for serving pilots, His work with the Disabled Pilots Awareness Sub Committee, as the BOS LTD Coordinator, are a testament to his commitment to our community and profession. Additionally, Tom brings valuable experience from his previous airline, where he gained extensive knowledge in union work. I have the utmost confidence in Tom and I am excited to endorse CA Tom Knox for Vice Chair of BOS.
I have had the privilege of serving alongside CA Larry Cutler on the Board of Directors, I have witnessed firsthand his selfless leadership and unwavering focus on putting the needs of the members first. Larry tackles every task-no matter how small or large-with determination, integrity and thoughtfulness. His tireless efforts make him an invaluable advocate for not only the members of Boston, but all the members of APA. I am confident he will serve with excellence, and I wholeheartedly endorse CA Cutler for the position of Chair in Boston.
Tommy Knox is the exact pilot we need for BOS Vice Chairman. I’ve been based in Boston for 26 years and feel like I have a pretty good pulse of the domicile. I’ve known and flown with Tom since he’s been based at BOS with AA. His roots run far deeper than that though as a native of the area and a Boston based Business Express Pilot.
I have worked with Tommy as well on various APA committees. We’ve been there together for 5 AM Concourse Conversations and he’s also a pilot advocate as BOS LTD Coordinator just to name some of his APA experience. I believe technical competence is key to the total package and Tom has shown me that when we have flown together. Tom will continue the mantra of “Boston always punches above its weight” when it comes to APA contributions.
How lucky are we to gain Larry Cutler from LGA Domicile Chair to BOS Domicile Chair! Larry has done so much over the past few years for APA pilots. Larry is one of the BOD members that had the balls to keep advancing the contract improvements when the company kept saying no. I have spent time with Larry quite a bit through National picketing events and his participation with me on Fini Flight events. Larry is truly local as he was at most all our BOS APA events while he was also juggling his LGA responsibilities. He does it all and he’s our guy for BOS Chairman.
Dan Protzmann on the road again....
It was my privilege to serve as CA Lawrence Cutler's Vice Chair during his tenure as the APA LGA Domicile Chair. Having worked side by side, day in and day out for two years, I can say with absolute certainty you will not find a stronger or more dedicated union advocate than Lawrence Cutler. Whether representing a pilot in the Fight Office, or working high level strategic issues in the APA Boardroom, Larry's focus has always been, and will always be on what is best for the pilots he represents. The epitome of a selfless servant, Larry is 100% committed to betterment of his fellow pilots, and the betterment of our profession.
Larry's union experience is virtually unmatched having served with ALPA, the Teamsters and APA. He understands the issues, he understands our industry and he knows how to get things done. A recognized leader in the APA Boardroom, Larry's knowledge and experience helped guide us through Section Six delivering the most lucrative contract in APA history. Coming out of Section Six, he spearheaded governance reform and helped lay the foundation which will make us stronger going into Section Six for Contract 2027.
I am not only proud to have served alongside Larry Cutler, but I am proud to call him my friend. No matter the challenge, I know I can always rely on Larry's advice and counsel to guide me through. More importantly, whether we agree or disagree, I know my union brother Larry Cutler will always have my back...and I guarantee he will have yours as well! As with Paul and Gemma, the Boston pilots will be in great hands with Larry and Tom as your next Domicile Reps!
CA Cutler has proven his leadership on the Board of Directors for the pilots of New York. I was disappointed to learn that he would not be running for an additional term due to his move to Boston, but the pilots of Boston now have an outstanding choice for their next Domicile Chair. I look forward to seeing Larry once again bring his professionalism and leadership to the table for the pilot group
I think you may want to vote for Tom Knox.
We’re all pilots, and we all know when another pilot says “you may want to...” you should probably think about doing it, cause they may see or know something you don’t
So I’ll say it again, you may want to think about voting for Tommy.
My name is Jim Cooper, I was based in Boston for 27 years, 17 as a FO and 10 as a Captain. I also did 2 years in BOS-South (or JFK, where I mostly few with other BOS commuters). During those years I was always active in APA. I started as the BOS librarian in 1997, and finished as a Pro Standards rep. I served on several local and even a national committee. I have seen the BEST of APA and the WORST of APA, and I know how important it is to have great representation at the national level.
Tom Knox is everything you want in a board member! He is able to see all sides of an issue, work with those he doesn’t agree with, and keep the local (Boston base) priorities central while focused on the national agenda. Putting 2 kids through college and paying his mortgage, he has the same focus on this career as you!
Many of you, like me, are lucky enough to have gotten to flown or worked not just with Tom, but most of these candidates. Boston is lucky to have such an abundance of riches. But of all of these great guys, when it comes to a domicile rep, Tom is definitely my 1st choice. And he and Larry will make a great team representing you both nationally and locally.
My career at AAL is almost over, so the outcome of this race will not affect me. But as a “seasoned” union pilot, let me just say one more time: “You may want to vote for Tom”
In his former position as LGA Domicile Chair, CA Cutler provided timely, capable representational assistance for me in a time of need. As a former BOS Domicile Rep, I’m confident Larry will provide the same excellent representation for the pilots of Boston.
I have had the privilege of knowing Lawrence Cutler for over two decades, and in that time, I have come to recognize him as an individual of exceptional integrity, vision, and professionalism. His commitment to excellence and his unwavering work ethic set him apart in every endeavor he pursues.
Whether in personal or professional matters, Lawrence has consistently demonstrated not only deep expertise but also a rare capacity to understand and connect with people. He is a trusted advisor, a compassionate leader, and a reliable colleague. His ability to navigate complex situations with clarity and insight is something I have always admired.
Over the years, Lawrence has proven time and again that he is someone you can rely on—whether to provide sound advice, deliver results, or simply offer a thoughtful perspective. I wholeheartedly endorse Lawrence Cutler and have the utmost confidence in his abilities.
CA Larry Cutler brings a wealth of experience to the pilots of BOS. I had the honor of serving on the APA Board of Directors alongside CA Cutler and I witnessed first hand as he put his former Teamster Negotiating Committee experience to work during this past Section 6, both at the Board Level and in front of the Company. CA Cutler’s foresight and calm demeanor will be a tremendous benefit to the pilots of the BOS Domicile in dealing with the Flight Office and the APA BOD. He is a true unionist - always fighting for his pilots and the betterment of the entire airline profession.
After working with CA Cutler on the APA Board, I can’t attest that he is a true professional and cares deeply about the pilots in his domicile and the APA membership as a whole. He is level-headed, pragmatic, a forward thinker, and will serve the BOS APA membership well.
I would like to recommend Captain Larry Cutler for BOS Chair. As the former Chair to the LGA domicile, Captain Cutler did an outstanding job representing and caring for fellow pilots. As a supporter of APA’s numerous peer support programs, Captain Cutler worked collaboratively and constructively to ensure his electorate received the best possible care, no matter what life circumstance they may have faced. Captain Cutler is experienced and has the right talent for this kind of difficult work. Captain Cutler has my support.
I have known and worked with Larry for several years. As a current APA Chairman, we have worked on many delicate and confidential situations. I can attest that he ALWAYS has the best interests of the APA pilots at heart.
He is the consummate professional and I know the pilots at the BOS base will be in good hands with Larry at the helm. I do not give recommendations lightly - but rest assured this is an easy one. You will find no one better to take care of the BOS pilots and the rest of the APA membership than Larry Cutler.
